The point is this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” ~ 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
Dear Faith Family,
In his second letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul announces that God “loves a cheerful giver,” one who gives to His work with a generous and joyful heart. The word "cheerful" comes from the Greek word hilaros, which means an overwhelming sense of inner joy, gladness, and fulfillment. I certainly feel that same spirit of cheerfulness in our Faith Family’s response to last fall’s Increased Offertory Campaign. Thanks to the generous response from this community, we have stabilized our operating income. Your commitment to prayerfully make, or increase, a sacrificial gift to our community has given us a solid foundation where growth is possible.
That growth is evident in the consistent increase in our weekend Mass attendance over the past two years (29% increase over 2022). In response, we have expanded our ministries, invested in staff and training, and deepened faith formation for families. It is humbling to see our mission, “to make disciples of all nations” in action. None of this would be possible without the financial support of parishioners like you.
To build on this momentum and advance our mission, we humbly request that you prayerfully reflect on your giving to the Collaborative for the next twelve months. This non-binding pledge of financial support helps you to be intentional in your sacrificial giving and allows the Collaborative to plan judiciously. Each year we will prayerfully participate in this discernment process as a faith family.
Below is a snapshot of our financial performance, where we have met or exceeded our goals, and where we see opportunities to build on this success. We have included a commitment card for the weekly Offertory Collection and the Grand Annual Collection (GA 1 in the fall and GA 2 in the spring). This allows you to prayerfully discern your total financial contribution to the Collaborative in one pledge. I anticipate that some households will feel called to give more and recognize some are limited by budgetary constraints. Every sacrificial gift, no matter the amount, delights God and unites us as co-responsible for stewarding His Church.
FY24 Financial Reports
We have accomplished much over the last year, and much more is in development. These steps forward are the foundation of the great things yet to come. With all of us participating in the prayerful process, God will reveal His goals for our community that aid us in fulfilling our mission as part of His divine plan.
Thank you for being a part of this yearly process to discern our commitment to further our mission in service to Christ.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
We ask our parishioners to make a “pledge” to commit to the parish offertory for the next year. It is not a request for a large financial gift, you choose the total amount you plan to give, preferably weekly, through online giving. Weekly envelopes are also available; email us to set them up. You can choose to give monthly, quarterly, or annually.
This effort greatly aids our financial planning and creates a sound operating foundation for the Catholic Parishes of Arlington, allowing the parishes to plan an annual budget and allowing you, the parishioner, to budget your personal offering as conveniently as possible. The amount and method of payment are up to you.
Our Grand Annual collection is coming up on October 26-27, 2024. This important fundraising effort supports major capital projects and keeps our parish running smoothly. We kindly ask each working person to donate $350 to the first part of the Grand Annual Collection and, if you can, be even more generous. Thank you for your continued support!
