The vision of the Church for youth is grounded in a contemporary understanding of the life and work of Jesus Christ and expressed through eight components of advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. Our young people are integral to all ministries at the Catholic Parishes of Arlington, authentically involved in our mission. Read more here.
What is Arlington Youth Evangelization?
Arlington Youth Evangelization is the response of our Christian community to the specific needs of young people and the sharing of the unique gifts of the youth with the larger community. Youth Ministry at Immaculate Conception is relational, multidimensional, holistic, and people-centered. Adolescence is a significant time in the development of the human person. Our parish community has an important role in building assets in youth and assisting youth to successfully complete the developmental tasks particular to adolescence. The presence of young people at our parish is a sign of hope and a great gift to us.
Youth Evangelization strives to promote quality programs, healthy relationships, and functions for youth in grades 9-12. This inclusive ministry provides faith formation, social activities, retreats, and service projects as well as leadership training and mentoring. We offer many opportunities for our youth to grow within the Catholic community and with Jesus. Youth Evangelization also supports and helps strengthen families through its comprehensive programs, services, and resources.
The Youth Evangelization process happens when a variety of people, through a team approach, share with one another their stories and their lives. By doing so, they share the story of our Creator.
Our Goals for Arlington Youth Evangelization
+ AYE seeks to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
+ AYE seeks to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and the work of the faith community.
+ AYE empowers young people to become disciples of Jesus Christ who witness to their faith by living and working for justice, peace, and human dignity.
The AYE-Team
We are building a team of adults and confirmed teens, THE AYE-TEAM, to serve as small group leaders in our youth confirmation preparation process. This was formerly called CCD or Religious Education and the adults were referred to as Teachers. Youth Ministry can't happen without the great support of adult volunteers! The role of the AYE-Team is to lead discussion groups using provided materials and create a welcoming and encouraging environment for teens. We are expanding the sacramental preparation of our young people beyond classroom-style learning… Join us for this exciting new process!
